First, I want to thank Harvest Bible Church for sponsoring today's 24/7 prayer!
Today, I want to remind us all why we pray: to get answers. This also explains why so many of us don't pray: we don't expect answers! As I have been re-immersing myself in the works of favorite faith teachers of the past, and remembering the way God answered in the past, I can see how we have drifted from "faith that changes things" to ambivalence to neglect. We finish in unbelief, in which our prayers are random and we even glorify "coincidence" instead of God when there is an answer. Faith and prayer require perseverance and a kind of stubbornness in the face of adversity.
In John 15:7, Jesus told us, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you." If you think about this long enough, you must conclude that this is either crazy talk or a challenge to believe God for great things! It is also a test: Do God's words really abide in me? Do I really abide in Christ?
I challenge you this day to dare to take Jesus at His words and abide in Him!
